Frequently Asked Questions
Why does PedalPilot need my location?
PedalPilot uses your GPS location to display your position on the map and provide turn-by-turn cycling navigation. Without location access, the map will still display but navigation features will not work.
Does the app work offline?
PedalPilot requires an internet connection to search for destinations, calculate routes, and load map tiles. Once a route is displayed, basic navigation can continue briefly if connectivity drops, but a stable connection is recommended.
How do I change between metric and imperial units?
Open the Settings tab (gear icon) and tap the units option to switch between kilometres and miles.
How do I switch the language?
PedalPilot supports English, German, Dutch, French, Spanish and Italian. Go to the Settings tab and select your preferred language.
Does PedalPilot use background location?
Only during an active navigation session that you start while PedalPilot is open. On iPhone, location updates and voice guidance continue when you lock the screen, and stop when you arrive or end navigation. PedalPilot uses the privacy-friendly “While Using the App” permission and does not request Always location access. Your route progress remains on your device.
Is my data shared or sold?
PedalPilot does not sell your data. Saved routes and ride history stay locally on your device. There are no accounts, ads or marketing analytics SDKs. Online search, routing and maps exchange the information needed with our service providers. Diagnostic and usage reporting differs by platform and app version. Can I rely on every suggested route?
No. PedalPilot is a guidance tool only. Always follow road signs, one-way restrictions, private-road restrictions, closures, and local traffic rules on site, even if a route suggestion looks different.

How do I report a bug?
Send us an email at support@pedalpilot.app with a description of the issue, your device model, and iOS/Android version. Screenshots are very helpful.
